Placement Information

Angels by Day is a Montessori nursery based just outside the city centre and by the Queens Medical Centre hospital. It offers full and part time places for children from birth to 8 years . It is open from 7.30am untill 6.30pm Monday - Friday for 51 weeks a year (shutting for bank holidays and the week inbetween christmas and new year).

Accommodation

Angels by Day Nursery is located just a short bus ride from Nottingham City Centre where there are many hotels to stay in. For example the Hilton Nottingham Hotel on Milton Street has rooms starting from just £70 a night. To book a room call 0115 934 9700. If you are in need of a budget hotel the Days In Hotel on Wollaton Street offers rooms from just £34 a night. To book a room call 0115 9128000.

Transport

NCT Orange line - 34, 35, 36, 37 from outside Victoria Centre (John Lewis) every 2-3 minutes. You need to get off at "hillside" (just by the shops and subway). Most nct buses have a display advising which is the next stop however if you miss the stop just get off at the Queens Medical Centre hospital and walk back, it is only a couple of minutes. It takes around 15 minutes to get there from the city centre. It is currently £1.70 for a single, £3.40 for an all day ticket or you can use your city bus pass.

There is also a free bus called medilink which runs between Nottingham City Hospital, Wilkinson Street park and ride (tram stop) and Queens Medical Centre.

If travelling by car there is a map on the website at http://www.angelsbyday.co.uk/Find-out-more/Maps/. There is also a reasonable sized car park that never seems to be full.

Social life

Nottingham is a large city with a variety of fun things to do. You can go shopping and enjoy shops such as TOPSHOP, MISS SELFRIDGE, H&M, LINKS OF LONDON, JACK WILLS etc. There is the Corner House which has a cinema, bars, restaurants which is great for going to see a movie and grabing some dinner. For a night out in Nottingham you have plenty of bars and clubs to chose from such as Rock City, Oceana and Yates.

Things to do, things not to do

Try to make time to visit the nusery before the placement to make sure it will be suitable and meet the staff.

Arrive early on the first day to get set up with a finger print (which is used to gain access to the nursery), a locker key, and have a health and safety induction.
