Placement Information

Nursery World and Friends is a private nursery located in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Previously the building was a Victorian house which has been converted into a nursery which holds a maximum of 37 children. The nursery has three different sections babies, toddlers and pre-school, hence catering for children of a variety of ages through an open-plan play area.  There are three outdoor areas accessible to the children, one of which is a garden and the other a hard play area. Outdoor space offers areas for children to take risks, through having balancing areas and climbing frames, this is great for seeing the theory of Children and Environments being put into practice. The nursery opens Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm for 51 weeks of the year.

The nursery also caters for children with english as an additional language, with Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, German and Italian children currently being enrolled in the nursery.

Nursery World and Friends is an excellent choice for placement as the staff are very welcoming and accomodating of your needs. They will also ask you what you want to get from the placement and are more than happy to try and offer the experience that you need. For example if you feel you need more time working with the toddlers than with pre-school they will happily tailor your placement towards this.

Useful Contacts

Managing Director: Kim Mason

Nursery Manager: Tracy Pitchford

Deputy Manager: Sarah Varley

If you wish to complete a placement here contact Tracy on (01623) 440624.

Before you go

It is essential that you phone the nursery to ask them what time you need to be in on your first day and also what to wear (currently uniform consists of a purple nursery polo shirt, black trousers, black jumper and black shoes however this could change).

Also it is recommended that you go on a visit to the nursery before placement so that you can have a quick look round and to ensure you can find it so that you are not late on your first day.

Although there is a Londis shop next door to the nursery, it may be easier to take packed lunches as dinner breaks are only thirty minutes long.

Make sure you plan your journey by looking at timetables and accounting for traffic so that you are not late.
