Placement Information

Busy bees Montessori nursery integrates both the Montessori approach and the early years foundation stage.

The nursery is situated in the center of Rushden town in Northamptonshire and consists of a baby unit, toddler room, nursery room and a pre-school room. They care for children from the age of 3 months up to 5 years, from Monday to Friday, between 7am-7pm.

The nursery have implemented Montessori based methods into their practice to enable children to reach their full potential. They have done this by creating an environment that meets the needs of the child by being child sized, ordered and allowing for space and movement. This allows the child to build confidence and independence through accomplishing tasks that are within their reach.

The Montessori method/equipment is based in one room, not throughout the nursery. Although it use to be throughout the nursery, they felt that children would benefit more being in a small groups and going to the Montessori room, allowing them 1:1 contact with an adult.

When observing children within the room there were areas and activities that involved jugs for pouring, items to be polished, padlocks, dusters and clothes, dustpan and brushes. Through these activities children were able to prepare themselves for later life through practical experiences.

Accomodation

There are in fact no hotels, B&B's or hostels available in Rushden itself. But there is accommodation situated in towns nearby such as Wellingborough. Which has many premier inns, ibis hotels and other accommodation available.

Transport

If you drive there is a large carpark on the nursery site which is acessible to parents, students and staff.

I personally caught the bus each morning which was the M50 from Irthlingborough to Rushden. Due to prices of bus fair I chose to walk home afterwards which took an hour, along footpaths.

If you was to catch a train to the nursery the nearest train station would be Wellingborough, where all the accommodation is, and would have to use public transport to get to the nursery which takes around 45 minutes.

M50 - 25 minutes - Single = £3.75 - Return= £5.90

The bus runs every 30 minutes and is a 10 minutes walk to the nursery.

Social life

Within the town there are a couple of pubs which serve food. And 1 or 2 shops. But other than that the social life within the town isn't great. Again you have to travel to Wellingborough for a wider range of pubs, restaurants etc.
