Placement Information

The Yours Project is a short break activity service for children and young people with disabilities. It is situated in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between the town centre and the hospital. The activities are delivered by six organisations together with staff support from YMCA White Rose and a door to door service provided by Rotherham Community Transport.

On offer is a wide variety of fun, exciting and challenging activities throughout the week at various locations around Rotherham. Activities include water sports, indoor sports and games, arts and crafts, music, dance and many more.

They have a weekly programme, for different age groups to attend after school, and also a session on Saturday.

Accomodation

There are few hotels and B&BS around Rotherham town. Carlton Park hotel is probably the closest one to the placement.

Transport

The placement was close by to me, literally a 5 minute walk, so I didn’t have to worry about transport. There is a bus stop nearby if you want to catch the bus, which will lead to the bus station, which is located in the town centre and you also have the train station there too.

Social life

There are few clubs and pubs situated in the town centre, but you could always get the bus or taxi to Sheffield where the social life is probably a lot better. Also in Sheffield we have a large shopping centre, Meadowhall.
